Why I do Yoga

I want to preface this by saying that I am by no means an incredible yogi – I am just a girl who decided to start doing yoga at home and fell in love with it.

In light of my earlier post about burnout, I wanted to share one way that I combat stress daily. When I get stressed, I have a tendency to dive into my work even further rather than taking a step back to focus on some self-care. I’m {slowly} learning that taking a break is so worth it. You’re probably thinking “duh, everybody knows that.” Well, I’m a little late to the party. I know everybody tells you how important self-care is, but actually implementing it is a different story for me.

I recently found Yoga with Adriene on YouTube and am obsessed! I do one of her videos in the morning and one of her videos at night, and it has made the biggest difference in my day. I find that I’m more awake and present throughout the day and I sleep much better at night. My coworkers will even tell you that if I get overwhelmed at work now, I will stop everything and do a quick 10 minute desk yoga sequence. I probably look like a lunatic, but the refreshing feeling makes up for the crazy poses 😉

  1. Oh I love Adriene. I posted about her videos in my blog too a few weeks ago.
    If you haven’t already, try moon salutation. It’s one of the evening yoga sequence. I am sure you would love it.💜
