Summer Plans

I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA recently! I’ve been getting ready to finish up my last week of work before I gear up for school. I honestly can’t believe that my last day of work is approaching this quickly. I am so fortunate to have found an incredible job with amazing coworkers whom I am so sad to be leaving. That being said, I am super excited to spend my summer traveling and relaxing before school starts in August!

I was told by so many medical students and physicians that everyone should take a little time off before school begins, so that’s exactly what I’ve decided to do. I have plans to go to Mexico for my best friend’s bachelorette party and then Los Angeles for her wedding {isn’t it weird when your friends start getting married?! So adult!}. I’m also making a trip up to New York to visit my mom for a week and then my fun vacation tour comes to an end and school starts.

My school also plans these fun events where you can meet M2s {second year medical students} and your other classmates before school starts. Attending these functions has been really helpful in calming my nerves about starting school. You also get great advice that you wouldn’t typically get from administration: take weekend trips after exams to unwind, shadow doctors according to the course block that you’re in {ex: when you’re studying cardiology, shadow a cardiologist to bring the book learning to life}, and buy one copy of Netter’s to keep at your house and buy a separate copy with your anatomy group to keep in lab.

I am so looking forward to more of these school events and my upcoming travels. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far!
